Legally, sexual violence is called
a sexual offense.
A sexual offense is when someone
does something sexual to you
against your will.
There are different kinds of sexual offenses.
It could be someone
groping you.
Or sending nude pictures
when you do not want them to do that.
Or rape.
As the person who experienced the offense,
you decide
what feels wrong.
But it is also important
that the person doing something to you
understands that you do not want them to do it.
It is always illegal to have sex
or do other sexual things
with a person
who is unable to say no.
Maybe because they are drunk.
Or sleeping.
Or have an illness that
makes them unable to say no.
Many people believe that a sexual offense
must happen violently.
But that is not true.
The offense often happens indoors
by someone you know.
If you have experienced an offense,
report it to the police.
Call the police at 114 14
or go to a police station.
