Sexual violence is when someone
forces you
to do something sexual
against your will.
This could mean someone
forcing you to have intercourse
even though you do not want to.
That is not sex.
That is rape.
Sexual violence could also be
someone touching your body
without your consent.
For example, because you are sleeping.
Or because you have a disability
that keeps you from being able to say or show
whether or not you want that to happen.
Subjecting someone to sexual violence
is illegal.
It is called a sexual offense.
It should be reported to the police.
You have the right to tell the police
even if it was
someone you know
who did this to you.
Other words for sexual violence are
sexual assault, sexual violation
and sexual harassment.
